Advantages of Registers
An operational register is based on a single dataset. Like a report is highly interactive and highly customisable but provide a more granular view of the information. Report designers create the registers to represent prefiltered list of issues for specific tasks. The registers are not fixed, so can be customised and they also update as the underlying data changes. You can interact with the registers with filters, searches and by sorting as you drill down into the data for insights and answers. Registers typically contain a more detail views of the data than dashboards and visualisations in reports and are better suited to printing out or exporting to excel and used offline at a meeting on site or in a supplier or clients offices.
Operational Registers Glossary
The following operational registers are available across all subscription plans.
All descriptions of in the glossary are based on preconfigured filters. You can only see data for contracts you have access to but that includes all contracts apart from deleted contracts and demo contracts. You may have a perfectly legitimate reason to want to report on data from contracts that were completed or archived during the current reporting period so, by default, these are included but these can easily be filtered out via the filters page. Users can personalise registers and this will change the data but not the title or any tooltips. Power BI refers to filters as those pre-applied to each register and slicers as those selected by a user (typically in a dropdown). You can see which filters and slicers apply to a particular register by hovering over it and clicking the Filters on Visual icon.
